I can always admit that gamedev is definitely way more harder than web/system dev. given the right framework, stack and tons of free tools out there, you can actually do a web based dev project 10 times faster than game dev. at least per my 6+ years exp of working as one.
i've been working damn hard on something for 2 months. my heart aches everytime i think about how much progress i made. and still feels like it's nowhere 5%. (image shown the domains/namespaces developed so far for the game)
and the truth is, it's commonly acceptable for a development to take years to finish. there're simply to many disciplines in gamedev. physics, math, sound eng, level design, art, 3d modelling, animation, to name a few. all whole new fields of knowledge.
not even the acclaimed full-stack dev could make the same fortune as in gamedev. a project as in a game dev, is incomparable to the one in web dev. of course, if you discount the other factors like the web architecture, ops dev, sys admin, etc. but it's still manageable.
still, what i find surprisingly lacking is, a standard, open source tools, package management etc, being an industry that is much older than web dev. probably due to the game engines availability, and amount of disciplines in such industry.
