Hi hello being a part of/converting to a fundamentalist belief system has absolutely NOTHING to do with personal intelligence.

You can be the smartest person in the world and this can happen to you if you feel broken enough.
I can't tell you how many evangelicals I knew who were former atheists, who thought they were smarter than the machine, and ended up hipster pastor dads.

Same goes for Ivy League educated theologians/authors/pastor pets who could wax on about reformed theology until it ended in an eight hundred page dissertation.
It's not about intelligence. It's fucking interpersonal. Fundamentalism promises to fulfill a wide spectrum of universally human needs, and it DOES for a while. Just enough to make you afraid of unplugging.
Aka you are not immune.
This is why those of us who have been through that world are speaking out about it. TO EXPOSE THE WAY IT WORKS. You don't know it all already.
