Star Citizen brings out the terrible people in gaming. It's interesting to me that this is now an absolute fact; when you consider that most of us who have been around since the dawn of gaming, have seen the best & worst there is.
Take this recent P2W fiasco that's been playing out. We've all known that was the game's direction since they found a way to monetize scope creep. But when they made one not-so-subtle change which put any doubts to rest, they now have inventive P2W definitions.
The definitions & explanations coming out of CIG were already hilarious; but then Chris Roberts goes on a live stream last evening and basically made it worse by claiming that the game isn't P2W because you can't 'win'. I kid you not.
I'm not even kidding. @ 36:14

That's not even the half of it.

The latest 2017 financial statements for the largest entity (F42) which accounts for 3 studios in UK/GER, basically indicates that it's insolvent.

Most backers didn't even bat an eyelid.

I covered it here :

Most of them are hypocrites embedded with the scammers, thieves (who hack & steal accounts), money launderers (buy with stolen funds, sell on Grey market) etc. So CIG is basically operating within their moral compass parameters. So it's all perfectly normal.
Now they're bitching about P2W 'misconceptions); but nobody bats an eyelid when the execs enrich themselves by taking badly needed funds OUT of the project, leaving it to rely on high interest loans, thus making a key studio teter on the brink of insolvency.
The only time CIG ever officially responds to anything; is when it makes the news cycle. Then they spin it.

They don't bother to look at the public financial filings, compare them to the incessant cash grab, and come to the conclusion that it's basically unsustainable.
The facts and evidence are as clear as day. If they don't push the P2W mechanics, or sell scope creep, they just can't make enough money to fund the 2 US studios, let alone 5 worldwide.

In 2016 he claimed they had money to complete if sales dried up.
The dev schedule is now all the way to 2019; and he just confessed - live - that the internal one is in fact different from the public version.

Sources told me this back in 2016. What they showed me went all the way to 2021. And I wrote about that.

And yet again in this same live stream, he just made it even more obvious that the schedule serves no meaningful purpose other than to mislead backers into paying for things they think are in the next patch +1

It's like watching hamsters on a wheel in a cage.
So with CitizenCon (the biggest shill event of the year) coming Oct 10th; as they have nothing tangible for it; the 3.3 build which was supposed to be out end of Sept, is now being delayed for release around that hype-driven money grabbing event which serves NO other purpose.
And true to form, he's already started with the hype bs.

This time for 3.3, touting 200 client server instances...in a game that STILL can't even handle 16 clients in ANY reasonable fashion for gameplay.

Think I'm kidding? Fine. Below is a recent video of backers attempting to "play" in a 50 client instance. Remember, this is all powered by cloud based AWS instances:

ACTUAL footage:

What did they do? Edited out ALL the crashes, bugs, loading screens, and general eye-popping things which would give rise to : "How is this a 7yr, $190M project!?" remarks.

The result is STILL awful. But they're totally going for 200 clients in 3.3

These are the SAME guys who, when given the opportunity to ask Chris the tough questions (e.g. why are you taking money out of the project to line your friends & family pockets?), they disregard that, and go glossy eyed over mundane hype-driven bs they KNOW to be false.
In time, when the rest of the pieces come together, the end game is going to be one helluva shit-show. We've been here before; and we know how it ends.
