Exactly my sentiments. Industry consortiums censoring free speech based on arbitrary and politically motivated criteria are an unhealthy development in our democracy.
Wittingly or unwittingly @apple, @facebook, @YouTube, and @spotify have all taken the first step to invite government intrusion in such a grotesquely incompetent way that they will rue the day they tried to act out their pompous virtuosity by playing God with political speech.
The issue isn't the desirability or otherwise of InfoWars content. The issue is, so long as the content is legal, no matter how unhinged, who should be the arbiter of blocking/eliminating/suppressing it?
a) Consumers acting freely in a free market
b) Government
c) Corporations
Make no mistake. Corporations can never control political speech in America without colluding with the government, and our politicians are always willing to oblige. Our mega tech companies have chosen to become progressive PACs.
The near universal condemnation of Alex Jones even by people who also condemn the tech companies for arbitrarily blocking him, contains a message: "Americans are not easily fooled. Stop with the self-serving paternalism inculcated by fatuous elites and their media handmaidens."
