Mattis' senior advisor worked as an Amazon consultant before joining the government. She sold her consulting firm just before starting with Mattis, but she kept receiving payments through her tenure with the Pentagon.
Two days before she left the government, the Department of Defense announced a $10 billion cloud computing contract that is widely believed to heavily favor Amazon.
