1) Okay. So if you haven’t noticed I’m a REALLY big James a bond fan. Thinking about recasting Bond has started me thinking about my perfect fantasy cast for the next film. No get it out of your head! It’s not going to be Idris Elba.

2) When Bond is recast it will be a total shake up of the brand. In the past they’ve carried over some casting to keep continuity. I suspect that this new reboot will throw the baby out with the bath water. So don’t expect to see ANYONE from the old cast. Like Spider-Man

3) Firstly the film title and story.
No Casino Royale rehash here. Bond is moving into the future.
BUT some things remain the same, all films are based on books.
It’s likely to be Risico or Seafire

4) Broccoli is going to want a big splash, a big story and a modern edge. Just like Craig made you forget every other actor who ever played Bond, she will be looking to do this again. Even better this time...she’s going to try to keep her star happy.

5) Casting Bond .
The first casting question asked...what does he look like in a suit?
Visually this is super important with wny actor who plays Bond. Bond IS a walking advertisement for Saville Row tailoring. Bond generates money for the British economy. Suits, cars, watches.

So my first choice is Dev Patel for Bond
A myriad of reasons why.
Especially that he’s Indian which is my gut instinct that Broccoli will go with.
Remember Brocolli has COMPLETE CONTROL over Bond.

Ah yes....I hear you now. Patel is too scrawny, Patel is too young, Patel is too scruffy.
Once Barbara is done with him no one will say anything other than yummy when Patel strolls out at that first photo call.
Remember Daniel Craig was once young and scrawny too…

It’s amazing what the Bond team can do with raw material. This guy doesn’t look like he’s right for James Bond either...and yet.
Don’t forget when he was first announced no one though a BLONDE actor should play Bond

Patel is perfect for all the reasons that Craig was. It’s the raw material that’s needed. Not the finished product.
Very British ✔️
Excellent acting resume✔️
Looks great in a suit ✔️
Happy to sign life away....🔜

You think I was joking about the signing your life away but? Nah. Not on your life.
Bond is both a blessing and a curse.
It can catapult you into leading man status, and it can also typecast you forever.
An older established actor doesn’t need this role .

But a young actor like Dev. He done some great roles, had some real experience.
Only ever as an Indian. ( okay once as a poorly cast middle easterner)
Now if he wants bigger leasing men roles without having to be INDIAN first her needs Bond

And Bond more than ever. Needs him.
So much conversation about diversity in this role means James Bond’s future is tied to a POC actor.
But it needs to be an actor with great range and experience.
Patel fits this to a tee. He has the chops.

So enough about ,y excellent casting choice for James Bond.
If we are recasting everyone. As I fully suspect we will. Then who will fill these iconic roles next?
I probably won’t see any of these actors in the roles.
But I’d still love too...

Moneypenny
I love Naomi Harris in this role. She’s done Moneypenny proud. But in a reboot she won’t remain.
My pick is the incredible Jamie Chung. I honestly think her Moneypenny would rock. Bring back the witty banter between these characters PLEASE!

Q
Everyone loves Ben Wishaw and so they should. He’s done a lot to update this character. As I said though, it’s unlikely we will see him again.
Plus it’s time to let the girls into the science lab at MI. My pick is that Q will be female

So which female actor is perfect for Q?
The nerdy, brilliant, savant with an A type personality and at the same time a little dash of sex appeal?

I so could cast this film!
Bond is in my blood and this new reboot will be young, sexy, diverse and very British.
So next would be.....
M.
Next would be Mmmmmmm

Dench was the best M by far. The character is fabulous and Judy was formidable. But I have a sense M will be heading in a very different direction from the Fiennes M and in fact all stiff upper lip British representation. The new M will be like nothing we’ve ever had before.

M is a tough role.
Broccoli will want a name for this one. It’s traditionally gone to a celebrated actor in the past 2 reincarnations and I can’t see her changing that pattern here. But not old...not stuffy...and certainly not Old Vic alumni

The new M will be fresh. Possibly male, possible female but absolutely British and they will have to be known.

As for a baddie.
Gosh so many good choices and this is the one role in the franchise that doesn’t have to be British as it’s rarely recurring.
So...

Because he really does play an excellent baddie whenever given the chance
Sean Bean
