This is an amazing series of interviews of successful professors by younger professors. There are all sorts of interesting tidbits and advice in here. Highly recommend all junior profs read this!
To highlight some of the interesting tidbits: (my paraphrasing) "You should fight like a dog. You have fought so hard to get here, don't give up now!"

"Its really an art to ask money for a squid!"

"Don't take on every student who comes your way"
On grant writing: "The motivation is the most important part. If they like your vision and get why you are excited, they will overlook many technical details"

I've heard this before, but its good to get it re-iterated
When one of the profs graduated, her grad school cohort was 50-50 men-women.

Later at the re-union: 24 men, 1 woman
I loved how all the profs interviewed appreciated how *lucky* they were to get where they did.

"I was lucky to be at place X at Y time.."

"I was lucky to get this really good first student.."

They definitely worked super hard, but they were also lucky.
