@DeribitExchange just launched perpetual swaps for $BTC today, similar to Bitmex's.
With Bitmex having issues with overload, stop losses, and communication generally, it's prime time for some competition.

Some of the major differences..
- Deribit has a trade/request execution speed which is 20-40x faster than Bitmex's engine.
- The perpetuals have funding fees, but occur every few milliseconds to keep the price normalized to the index vs every 8hrs which influences price.

They also have a smarter liquidation engine & offer up to 50x leverage - note that the default margining system is cross, but they also offer portfolio margin.

Even if you still plan on mainly using Bitmex, it's likely a good idea to test out Deribit & have some BTC there, in case Bitmex is down or the like.
I'll personally be moving most of my trades there though, especially once they launch the $ETH + $BCH products they're planning.
