The fact that you’re even labeling clinically significant, evidence based psychiatric disorders as excuses or get out of jail free cards is problematic and ignorant though. You don’t have to like him or think he’s worthy of illness for him to meet the diagnostic criteria.
@AuntieMargot You’re using moral terms (nice, good) that somehow suggest pathology is only clinical if we like the people who have it & that’s just not how science works. There are NO excuses being made for him and illness doesn’t absolve anyone who has it of willful wrongdoing.
@AuntieMargot It’s an egregious misconception that mental illness in general is an “excuse” for anything and while people w/personality disorders are ill, they still have the ability to make better choices in life, they just willfully choose not to. DT gains NOTHING from illness.
