"Trump could be forgiven for thinking that Google might bow to an authoritarian who threatens its business & reputation." 
A key concern Google sources told me they have about the China plan is that they believe it will set a standard that will be replicated in other countries w/ repressive govts. Trump's comments illustrate this is also a danger in democracies, especially if a demagogue is elected.
