A thread on India's - how the hell did we lose this test - in SENAZ countries since the 1990's.

(SENAZ - South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia, Zimbabwe)
1. India vs NZ at Wellington 1998.

We were 16/4 recovered to post 208 courtesy a masterly hundred by Azhar. Conceded 150+ run lead. Somehow managed to set a tricky target of 213. Have the opposition reeling at 74/5..... And we lost by 4 wickets..

2. India vs Zimbabwe Harare 2001.

Erasing a deficit of 78, India were quite comfortably placed at 197/3. Collapse ensued and we were all out for 234.
Zimbabwe quite comfortably chased 157.

PS - India didn't win a series in Zim till 2005.

3. Ind vs Aus MG 2003

Yes Sehwag scored a memorable 195. But we collapsed from 311/3 to 366 all out.. Aus bossed the game, but 2nd innings recovery - 252/4. Then the inevitable collapse. 286 all out. Aus chased a target of 96 easily.

4. Ind vs SA Cape Town 2007

Worst culprit. Sub continental wicket. 41 runs ahead after 1 innings each. Time to boss SA around and win the series.... All out for 169. Sensible chase from SA and a golden opportunity to win a series went to bust.

5. Ind v Eng Nottingham 2011

Eng 124/8. Swann and Broad throw their bats around and reach 221. India comfortably placed at 267/4. We combust to 288 all out. A potential lead of 100+ was reduced to 67. Then Eng bossed Ind in the 3rd innings to win easily.

6. Ind v Aus MCG 2011

Aus 333 all out. India 214/2. SRT and RSD in midst of their final 100+ partnership.. Inevitable collapse after SRT's wicket. 282 all out. India never in the game after that. A team of Sehwag, RSD, SRT, VVS never won a series in Aus.

7. Ind v SA Durban 2013

Vijay and Pujara had done well to get India to 198/1. Inept batting got us all out for only 334. SA bossed the game from there on.

8. Ind v NZ Wellington 2014

What can you say about this game.. 246 run lead. Opposition staring at innings defeat at 94/5. Virat dropped McCullum and then we then proceed to bowl 173 more overs for 3 more wickets.

End result - draw and a series loss

9. Ind v SA Centurion 2018

A Kohli masterclass gets India within striking distance of SA's 1st innings total. SA are then 3/2. Inept bowling after that.. SA recover to set India a target of 287 and Ind is blown out for 151.

10. Ind v Eng Birmingham

Eng 86/6 becomes 246. India 142/2 becomes 195/8 before recovering to 273. Eng 122/5 and recover to 271.
Tough start, but a century partnership.. Kohli gets out and 123/3 becomes 184 all out.

12. Ind v WI Barbados 1997

Too painful to recall - hence focused on SENAZ. But this has to be our worst "AJM abroad". West Indies 95/8 with a lead of 74 post 140.
India proceed to make only 81 chasing 120.
