Who is this fascist and white supremacist and what has he accomplished over the past year other than go on a tour of Europe where he told fellow fascists not to be ashamed of being called “racist”? This normalizing of fascism and white supremacy is a disgrace.
And this is the same magazine that ran this headline. A gathering of war criminals was “the biggest resistance meeting yet.”
Steve Bannon speaking to #France's far-right National Front party: "Let them call you racist. Let them call you xenophobes... wear it as a badge of honor." He is a fascist & white supremacist: anyone sharing a stage with him is an enabler. And remember all the oxygen he gets e.g.
Stop allowing the line to keep shifting even more to the right. Remember the “dapper alt-right” articles? Well, now we have fascists headlining literary festivals. Stop giving oxygen and air time to these fascists and white supremacists.
White American liberals are dangerously amplifying voices of fascists. This is so apt: “We have to find some way to persuade the white liberal to stop being a liberal and become an American Radical,” Lorraine Hansberry, The Black Revolution and and the White Backlash forum, 1964
I love that quote from Lorraine Hansberry because it is a more succinct explication of this (more well known quote) from Martin Luther King Jr about white moderates and liberals
This comes as we learn more about Jack Dorsey overruling his own staff by keeping Alex Jones and Richard Spencer accounts on Twitter. Remember all of this as the US continues lurching toward fascism
Those “white liberals” - editors & publishers of major US media outlets - who give a platforms to & amplify voices of fascists & white supremacists have nothing to lose. They are not the people of colour, Muslims, disabled, migrants, LGBTQ, refugees, dehumanized by those fascists
And another festival for the fascist and white supremacist. So earlier this year, the Financial Times and soon The Economist and The New Yorker. Not bad for someone who tells the European far right to wear the badge of xenophobia with pride. h/t @highreaching
Someone please tell me when The New Yorker, The Financial Times and The Economist invited Baghdadi the head of Isis/Daesh & Ayman el-Zawahri the leader of al-Qaeda to headline their festivals. I don’t want them to because they’re fascist & dangerous. So is Steve Bannon.
Let me save you a ticket to any of those festivals celebrating a fascist: Bannon has been propping and championing fascists in Europe. He belongs in the trashvan of fascists, not at literary festivals google.com/amp/s/www.wash…
This is who will headline Economist and New Yorker festivals: Bannon plan for Europe-wide populist 'supergroup' sparks alarm - BBC News bbc.com/news/world-eur…
White men are considered the default, the norm. Their fascism, misogyny, racism, zealotry is normalized because white men are the default. Those attributes in anyone else are abhorrent.
That’s why Baghdadi of Isis/Daesh & Zawahri of al-Qaeda would never be invited to speak. I don’t want them to be. They’re fascist & dangerous. Bannon is more dangerous because his fascism is in power. His fascism is normalized via the white-dominated political process & festivals
