🚨2018 SECRETARY OF STATE THREAD🚨

This candidate thread will feature names you’ve likely never heard of…and yet it may feature the most important people on the ballot this year:

The Democratic Secretary of State (SoS) nominees for 2018.

PLEASE spread the word!

There are currently 30 Republican Secretaries of State and 17 Democratic Secretaries of State.

2018 presents us with the opportunity to reverse those numbers…and then some.

In most states, the SoS is elected directly by voters. In others they are selected either by the Governor or the State Legislature.

In 2018, your vote for Governor in NY/FL/PA/MD/TX/OK will also determine your SoS! And the same applies to your State Legislature in TN/ME/NH!

Secretaries of State often, but not always, run the elections in their state, overseeing voting hours, voter registration, ballot measures, and/or more.

While the duties differ from state to state, you want to have a Democratic SoS to guard against any voter suppression tactics.
