1. Lets talk about the public relations campaign for Kavanaugh and how it might shed light on the accusation against him.
2. Remember when Kavanaugh was first nominated there was a spate of articles by women testifying to his good character -- a great carpool dad, coach of girl's basketball team, mentor to young women etc.
3. And remember how the girl's basketball team came out for Kavanaugh at the hearings? All of this hardly seems like a coincidence.
4. There might be a different reasons why Kavanaugh's political allies wanted to make the pitch he's good for women: to deflect from worries about overturning Roe, GOP numbers are bad with women. But one other reason comes to mind: They knew this story was out there..
5. And of course the were able to quickly get 65 women who knew Kavanaugh when he went to an all boy's school to say he was a real little gentleman. Nothing suspicious or premeditated about that!
6. So, to speculate: there might have been some inkling in White House about sexual assault story & they tried to preemptively arm against. Which is hard to believe but Trump has a pattern of defending accused men (himself, O'Reilly, Ailes, Porter, Moore, etc).
7. Again, this is speculation. There needs to be reporting. Counting against this theory is that its nutso for even a Trump White House to go forward with a risky nominee if they have list that (presumably) includes jurists of same stripe who don't have accusations against them.
8. Here's the thing: the judicial nomination wing of the White House is where the Trump administration is reputedly the most professional. So it's a hell of thing if they went into this with eyes wide open.
