There is no appeal to norms which will stop the GOP from rushing Kavanaugh onto the bench. I'm not sure even sure raw politics helps at this point. They know they're on the way out. This is their final, spasm of power and it's attached to a lifetime appointment.
You say the FBI routinely looks into these things? Doesn't matter? You say there's people offering contemporaneous corroboration of the accusation against Kavanaugh? Doesn't matter. You say they held a seat open for almost a year, what's the rush now? Doesn't matter.
The GOP is wholly corrupt, every single national office holder is complicit and the only way to pushback is to win elections, even in the face of their gerrymandering and voter suppression. It's really dire.
