Oof.
Axios has a second source with a potentially much more nuanced take on this news —> "'He's expecting to be fired,' so plans to step down."
Sounds like time to invoke the 24-minute rule, at least, if the 24-hour rule is not workable here.
Many reporting that Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein is on his way to the White House, where he is expecting to be fired. There is disagreement in reports about whether Rosenstein is resigning.
Important note, from my perspective: @PeteWilliamsNBC is one of the people reporting that Rosenstein has not and will not resign. Pete is very careful and extremely well sourced.

DAG Rosenstein met with CoS Kelly this morning and then attended the principals committee meeting, still as deputy AG, per a source familiar with the situation. This tweet from @PressSec followed:

And, from Grassley, the hearing notice is officially set for Thursday.
From @marthamaccallum's Kavanaugh interview, I noted this part where she tried really hard to get him to go after "where this is coming from."
@marthamaccallum For the multiple people who asked, no, MacCallum did not ask about Ed Whelan.
This NYT story contains a lot. There's Kavanaugh and Judge, side by side on the back left, in a photo that truly says a thousand words. nytimes.com/2018/09/24/bus…
"Renate Alumni" — and other yearbook mentions of Renate, including on Kavanaugh's page — apparently is referring to Renate Schroeder Dolphin, a woman who didn't know about these mentions and just a few weeks ago signed onto that supportive letter. nytimes.com/2018/09/24/bus…
