OK, I have to say something. #Isurvivedsexualassaut Over the course of my life, I have either been the survivor of, or intervened in, five seperate assaults from five seperate men (all white) which were sexual. I never said anything because I knew nothing would happen.
The hearing today proves I was right. Not that it is any comfort to me. But this is the end of my patience with myself and with the process. The Judicial Committee has proven that there is no respect for women in America. Fine. They don't want to respect me? Let's go.
Over the course of the first two years of this Presidency we have seen that this power can be weilded to influence. From now on, even a whiff of connection to the corrupt politics of the Republicans and I will take my money elsewhere.
I'm going through our finanaces this morning, and as of today, I will not support any organization with connections to dark money groups, republican intrests, the NRA, or any other organization that supports the misogyny of the republican party. No stone unturned.
No republican is welcome in my house or to my hospitality. Not now, not ever again. You can stand out in the cold, in the flood. I won't break bread with you. Find another sucker. I've never said no to a neighbor, but today is a new day.
Because you leave us outside to take care of ourselves and you make it clear that it's where you will always believe we belong. It's where you've ALWAYS believed we have belonged. And we knew it, but we accepted it. No more. I have news for you jackasses, AMERICA IS A WOMAN.
WE are TIRED of you hurting our BABIES, denying us HEALTHY BODIES, controlling our REPRODUCTION, hurting our NEIGHBORS with your PREJUDICE, and MURDERING our YOUNG BLACK MEN and WOMEN. You even tell us how to worship GOD which is the height of ARROGANCE.
WE are SICK of your WARS and your bullshit NDAs. SICK of your RAPE CULTURE and culture of APOLOGISTS. DONE with your willful IGNORANCE and your CRUEL retribution to our independance. AMERICA IS A WOMAN you jackasses, she SEES your bullshit.
I've spent a lot of time listening the last two years. I've paid attention to some powerful voices who resonated with me. Young, powerful voices who represent the generation of leadership @Ange_Amene @Blackamazon @BreeNewsome @leahmcelrath @dodi70 @VABVOX and @RVAwonk
Listening to them, I've realized that I haven't done enough. I've always played it careful. Maybe it's because I live in Texas, maybe it's because I am a sexual assault survivor and that experience taught me a poor lesson. But I haven't done enough. Those days are OVER.
So, Republicans, you aren't welcome to my money, you aren't welcome in my house, you aren't welcome to my respect. When I meet you in argument, I won't listen to your side. I won't be fair to you, because you have never been fair to me or any of my kin.
You're friends aren't welcome to my money, no one who can "see both sides" is welcome to my time or attention, and unless I meet a candidate who makes a promise to support Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ, and Feminism - I will work against you ever way I can think.
I'll get down in the ditches, I'll spend more money than I have, I will fight dirty - because you know you do - and I will do everything I can do to end you. Why? Because you old men aren't dying fast enough. And you know what? I'm not alone. AMERICA is a WOMAN, and she's pissed.
