A few people are asking me about my process. It all starts with the evaluation sheet I posted on my blog. That’s where I throw customer problems / solutions and evaluate them...
The next step is choosing an idea. When you know you’re going to do 12, this step is actually pretty hard. I keep overthinking “shall I leave this idea until later or do it now?” - in my head the 12 startup challenge should follow some sort of strategy or narrative
When I’ve chosen the idea I do things the old school way. I write user stories and pick them off one by one on a JIRA kanban. Here’s a dump of the completed user stories for zipsell docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
..and yes these don’t follow the strict story format “as a ? I want to ? so that I can ?”
“So that I can...” is useful for explaining the user benefit in a team situation so members can understand how important (or not) the story is. When it’s just me I skip this step. The benefits of each feature are implicitly understood already by the one team member.
