7 Simple Life Hacks for You! A twitter thread...

Here are simple tips to improve your #life and feel the difference. Here’s how you can do it: Image
1) Prioritize Your Health

It doesn’t take time to stay #healthy, wealthy, and wise. Unfortunately, we don’t pay much attention to our personal well-being.

You should know that no work is more important than your #health. Whatever you do make sure it doesn’t affect your health.
Here’s what I do:

Every morning, I practice #yoga for my mental and physical well-being. In addition, I always make sure that my daily diet includes leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Because I believe health is wealth.

1. A thread on taking back control of borders.

(Or not).

Unpacking the confusion.
2. The UK government claims to want to take back control of borders.

But did they mean control of settlement immigration? Or actual control of border crossings?

Do they even know what they want to control?
3. In reality, as a non-Schengen country, and as an island, the UK has always had full control of its border crossing points. UK is surrounded by water which helps. The only exception perhaps is the open Irish border but that’s down to the Good Friday Agreement not EU membership.

‘Spalato–The City within a Roman Palace’ has just aired, on this day on 3LO @abcmelbourne in 1936. Read by my grandfather as part of a series of talks under the eye/ear of C. Hughes Hallett, Controller of Talks and Services. Would any recordings exist somewhere?

Who knew Diocletian had a thing for cabbages?
Wish I’d read this stuff when I stayed in the Palace years ago. I’d love to have known of the four gates: Golden (for his birthplace), Silver (for the moon across the water), Bronze & Iron (for the metals that defended the State.)
In other archival records, the motorcycle diaries from May 1929, sent from London in 1930. Written in conjunction with his travelling companion, Harry Solomon. From Salisbury to Torquay, Lands End, Clovelly, Kilve, Cheddar, Wells. Losing petrol caps, stalling on hills & swearing.

I managed to walk about 12km yesterday and throughout the walk was constantly looking up as aircraft landed on runway 27 @SanDiegoAirport. As @Airbus A350 destinations go this one is a little unusual approach wise… Follow on my walk as I explain…#WePilots #aviation #SanDiego
Unlike other major #airports San Diego doesn’t have an Instrument Landing System (ILS) on R27,I’ll explain why later. The approach is also a little steeper than the norm to avoid small hills on the approach. It’s stunning day or night as you fly through the city to land. #WePilots
From Balboa Park most aircraft descend using a GPS approach that follows a descent angle of 3.5 degrees from a approach fix to the runway. An imaginary descent path to follow to the runway using GPS rather than an ILS beam from the ground. But why is SAN an unusual destination?

Starting Jan 5, 2023: Travelers flying to U.S. from China, or who have been in China in the past 10 days & are flying from certain airports, must show a negative #COVID19 test taken within 2 days before #travel to the US or documentation of recovery.

More info: Because of surge in COVID-19 cases in China + the lack of adequate, transparent sequencing data, incl. critical viral genomic sequence data, the U.S. is taking steps to protect Americans’ public health and be on alert for any potential #COVID19 variants.
Based on lack of available data, incl. limited availability of viral genomic sequencing data to help identify new #COVID19 variants & a limited number of testing/reporting of new cases, it is harder for U.S. public health officials to identify new variants spreading to U.S.

This thread is for all those people #traveling stuck in #airports with ruined #holiday plans. I am a seasoned global traveler who has encountered almost every ridiculously inconvenient #travel scenario. A few tips I wish I'd had as a less seasoned traveler 1/
1. Take a few minutes and have a meltdown. Cry, yell/scream into your blanket or coat. Let out the rage then stop. Take 5 to 10 deep breaths and remember people unexpectedly died today or this week. It's better to be unimaginably inconvenienced than gone. 2/
2. Please do not yell at the counter agents. They are in unimaginable pain & stress. Some aren't equipped to handle it. Everyone is dealing with something @ home & @ work. Do it for them to be unlike the 1000s of others who won't heed this advice & take out their rage on them. 3/

(1/?) Sometimes wisdom looks different than we imagine. When we’re frustrated, stuck at home, complaining, making mountains of molehills- we want wisdom to be easy. Instead we must go out and accomplish something, see how big this world is. How hard people work.
Only then we get real wisdom. And don’t worry, this ain’t some Mach tough love bullshit (not completely.) Because real wisdom is as graceful and kind as we imagined it would be. It desires a safe comfortable home for all, kindness of strangers and enjoying life. But it’s earned.
You won’t find that wisdom sitting at home frustrated. When you’re in that mode, you want quick fixes you call wisdom. You want the idea or imagine of wisdom, the picture of a smiling Buddha. But it’s just a picture. You gotta go out and see this world. See the plights of others.

#PuertoRico #Castles #travelphotography #SanJuan: Castillo San Felipe del Morro / El Morro astonishes. It is a massive triangular fortress draped guarding the harbor. It may be the second largest fortress in the entire New World, second only to nearby Castillo San Cristobal. 1/
2/ #UNESCO El Morro five tiers of wedding cake #ramparts must soar up to 100 feet above the #ocean. The Spanish started construction in 1539. To enter, one crosses a splendid multi-acre lawn on the landward approach they deliberately cleared of all obstacles.
3/ El Morro's original pierced windowless guard towers are named "garitas". (I use "margarita" as a mnemonic...). We also saw many 3' long iguanas: one on the giant exterior lawn and at least 10 more in the dry moat. They love eating the weeds/clovers.

#Metz #France #travel - #NotreDame cathedral reveals itself at the end of a narrow street… It is beautiful Gothic architecture, with a mid-height central tower and two taller flanking transept towers much further at back. It’s all lit up at night. 1/
2/ #travel #France - #NotreDame of Paris caught on fire a few years ago. Here is another heartbreaking Notre Dame fire... but this is Metz in 1877... The other images show three other stages of evolution - two earlier and one now. #architecture
3/ Metz is a remarkably beguiling town that enchants absolutely effortlessly. There is a large pedestrian-only expanse in the compact historical district that makes walking around a wonderful, pollution free, safe pleasure. Note Marshall Ney's statue↖️!

#A380 #Boeing #Airbus #avgeek - The world's largest passenger plane, the wide-body two-story Airbus A380, entered service with @SingaporeAir in Oct. 2007. 254 built through 2021 when production ended. @Emirates bought ~half. 1/ @Sylvia70485099
2/ I love Boeing B-747s, but the A380 feels even bigger and statelier despite the decidedly awkward proportions in these glamor shots. :) The project started as the A3XX in the mid-1990s. Surprisingly, neither was the first double-decker passenger liner.
3/ The A380's major components come from across Germany, England and Spain (and elsewhere?) with final assembly in #Toulouse, France, long a big French assembly hub. This collaboration has always been part of the multinational Airbus company's model.
