When I was growing up as a kid in the 90s, a prime talking point on the RIght was - Uniform Civil Code, and also Article 377
In fact there seems to be a reaction against the idea of UCC. The Hindus would rather have codes for themselves as opposed to a common code
Seeking a Uniform Civil code should ideally be the talking point for the "Progressive" (center left) party of the land.
But it is more in character for the "Conservative" center right party to defend diversity. And different ways of living.
The conservative temperament is to embrace variety, diversity and cultural autonomy
But I am not sure how the party leadership and top brass feels about this. Have their views kept pace with the changes in Hindu thinking on the ground?
Maybe the HIndu base was never really interested in the UCC. Or Article 377.
What they wanted was the state to have a more favorable tilt towards Hindu interests
