Going through the dying process with my sweet dog, I’ve been getting a lot of advice, & it seems to me that most advice about dying, just like most advice about writing, is based on the quixotic belief that it’s possible to find a loophole that allows you to avoid suffering.
In both cases, I don’t think it’s possible. But that’s okay. Not everything in life (or death) needs to be easy and fun.
To be clear: the dog isn’t suffering, I am. If she were, I would certainly be taking steps to end her pain. But I don’t think there’s a way to avoid my own, and I’m okay with that.
