Toxic masculinity turns people like Kentucky @GovMattBevin into absolute clowns. Here he is trying to look tough by throwing smoke grenades for an ad.

Which also reminds me of the hilariously embarrassing 2017 profile of Seb Gorka where he posed with lots of guns and tried to look as tough as possible for idiots who don't know anything about gunfighting
I'm convinced this advanced toxic masculinity we see today, especially in politics, is related to America's 17 straight years at war. Not sure what the correlation is, but I know it's there.

Here is a thing politicians 8,000 miles away from the fighting have never understood in 15 years of fighting in Iraq and Syria: The U.S. Army considers the Kurdish peshmerga an extension of itself. Much like individual platoons and companies are loyal to their interpreters.
American soldiers and Kurdish peshmerga have fought and died together fighting Ba'athists and ISIS.

The American people aren't loyal to the Kurds. Elected officials aren't loyal to the Kurds. But the Army is. And Mattis knows it. And Trump is going to have to deal with this now.

As a warm-up for my #Mickey90 megathread starting 11/18, I'm gonna watch as many of Disney's Oswald The Lucky Rabbit cartoons as I can get access to, since OTLR is basically Mickey Mouse 1.0

I mean, just look at him. Walt lost the rights to OTLR & then re-created him as MM!
I own this dvd collection from 2007 which I was SO excited to own but I still haven't gotten around to watching, over a decade later! This twitter thread will be my excuse to finally watch these films.
There are 26 Oswald shorts by Disney. 13 are on the DVD set. They have since found 6 more, and 7 are still "lost." I think I will be able to watch 16 of them?
