What’s striking is how everything @anneapplebaum says about corruption in Malta & Slovakia applies to UK too. Flows of offshore money, complicit politicians, discrediting of news sources. The difference perhaps is that people can’t believe such corruption could be possible here

I've seen C4's Brexit: An Uncivil War...& it's a brilliant, compelling drama. James Graham, the writer, captures the campaign's dark toxic heart & Cumberbatch delivers a stand-out performance. But it also whitewashes the deeply serious criminal offences we know were committed..

This is why it matters, Tony Hall. @afneil's casual misogyny opened a door for others. It gave them permission to abuse me & other women and a language to do it in. The BBC by failing to act implicitly endorsed it. And now, with this erroneous statement you've compounded it again

It's clear Trump seeks to provide cover for Saudi's brutal murder of WaPo journalist Jamal #Khashoggi.

The question is, why?

As is the case with almost all of Trump's actions, the answer lies with personal self-interest, greed & corruption. /1

#Khashoggi Case Thread: I am going to ‘pin’ this post to use it as an ‘Info Thread’ on the #Khashoggi Case. I am in #Turkey. I’ve been following the case closely and with access to sources & experts here. This is a very ‘sensitive’ criminal case due to ‘Diplomatic Booby Traps’!!!
The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
