/ Today, Blockchain is redoubling its commitment to crypto creators and users. We’re announcing our Guiding Principles for the Blockchain Airdrops Program. coindesk.com/wallet-provide…
/We think airdrops can be a tremendous tool for good in crypto. They can drive decentralization, supercharge network effects, and accelerate adoption in a responsible way.
/Airdrops are great for token-based network creators, whether the token is native to the network or not. An airdrop can ensure tokens are held not just by the privileged few, but by many.
/Airdrops are great for crypto users, too. Buying on a exchange can be expensive, ICOs can be risky, and mining isn’t for everyone. In a Blockchain Airdrop, crypto users can try out new networks and tokens for free.
/When dropped to the almost 30 million wallets on @blockchain, crypto goes directly to the private keys of real users, not some custodian. Actual use and functionality for crypto networks is why we're here, after all.
/Airdrops can even serve as a tool for regulatory compliance. “Decentralization” has become a legal term of art for both the securities laws and the money transmitter laws. Decentralization, under the law, is shaping up to be a pretty good thing.
/There are some limitations to what airdrops can do. We’re cognizant of some risks, and we think we can mitigate some of the major ones.
/Check out some of our more in-depth thinking here: blockchain.com/airdrop. If you’re a crypto creator, get in touch!
/Oh, and yes, the irony of announcing free crypto giveaways on twitter is not lost on me.
