One more point about Facebook. The big discussion now is that Facebook allegedly failed to tell publishers their metrics were wrong long after they figured out they were wrong. I think this is only part of the picture.
2/ In this case we're talking about metrics that were wrong even by Facebook's own definitions. But remember, because of its scale and market power, Facebook had long been able to define and measure its metrics entirely on its own. No 3rd party verification. This is of course ...
3/ entirely unheard of and on par with letting restaurants write their own reviews. Even the most ethical company would struggle to be legit if they were left to count AND define their own metrics. Given Facebook's record in general, it's risible to assume the "real" numbers ...
4/ are real by any remotely objective standard.
