1. Backstop and ejector seats thread.
2. The suggestion of an ejector seat to the backstop is extremely clever British diplomacy.
3. A unilateral ejector seat will of course be rejected, as violating sequencing, but what of a jointly operated one?
4. At the moment, Dublin has an effective veto over whether conditions for the backstop have been met, but what about the future?
5. A normal EU decision-making procedure could leave Ireland exposed by a jointly operated ejector seat in the future, if it fails to repeat its diplomatic feat of 2016-17. Ends
