I can understand the reasons Mueller’s not releasing the results of his investigation before 11/6, but if indeed he’s uncovered proof of Trump/the GOP’s treasonous illegitimacy, exactly how is it “safer” to let them keep stoking domestic terrorism ahead of *another* election? 🤷🏾♀️

Ultimately we’re still just applying a band-aid to a gaping, hemorrhaging wound that really requires surgical repair. If the DOJ thinks it can prevent RW insurrection in response to the Russia probe simply by delaying it they don’t fully understand the scope of the crisis yet.
It isn’t enough to just hope that Dems win control of Congress on 11/6 because Russians/Republicans are still actively/blatantly interfering in our election process and no one’s doing a damn thing to stop them. Beyond that, even if we win we can’t take control til 1/3/19.
Trump and all of the paid propagandists on the right wing have already started building an appetite for insurgency amongst their most devoted followers who also happen to be the most heavily armed demographic in American society. Also the most prone to commit domestic terrorism.
Circa August 2017. Their plan all along has been to obstruct justice and threaten violence and political persecution for the “crime” of holding Trump accountable for his corruption and incompetence. Textbook sociopathy *and* fascism.
For me it’s not even really a matter of the timing of Mueller’s announcement, it’s the presumption that a carefully chosen date (or the results themselves) can mitigate the extent of the damage Trump will gladly do in the WH until he’s officially removed by voters or Congress.
Either the GOP maintains control of Congress and they all carry on with their fuckery per usual or Dems take control and they carry on with their fuckery, but at an exponentially more frantic and nihilistic pace. Not to even mention the GOP rigged SCOTUS...
All I’m saying is I’m skeptical the “powers that be” have a good plan in place to contend with the depths of Trump’s depravity or the dysfunction he will intentionally induce the moment Mueller breaks his silence on the Russia probe’s revelations. Pun intended.
America’s been kicking this can down the road for 150+ years since the “end” of the Civil War, perpetually afraid of levying any consequences for terroristic right wing extremism or offending the fragile yet bellicose ego of White supremacy.
As we’ve seen with the gun debate, the American government is too afraid of angry, armed White men to act in the best interest of democracy/safety/human decency. We aren’t solving problems or preventing dysfunction, we’re placating fascists in futile hopes that they won’t erupt.
Putin knew very well that Trump was the perfect poison pill & time bomb to drop in America’s lap. Both his ascendancy and eventual downfall could predictably rip this country apart and turn the cold civil war of the last 150 years into a hot one. He hasn’t been proven wrong yet.
