It would have been cake and eat it for Hain to wait.

The courts would have considered the full case and may have made an important principled judgments about NDAs in favour of public interest reporting.

If judgment against Telegraph, Hain could still have revealed after that.
If case had gone to a full hearing, the Telegraph could have mobilised public support against NDAs in #metoo type cases, improving public understanding and putting pressure on courts to change approach.

If that failed, it might have succeeded next time as public opinion moved
And in amongst all that, Hain could still have revealed Philip Green's identity if he/Telegraph didn't get result they wanted.

Cake and eat it.

As things stand, it's cake (we know alleged perpetrator in this one case) but no eating (#metoo NDAs still a problem legally)
