Let’s break this open Ryan... Yes the man arrested for anti-Semitic graffiti and for setting fires outside of Schuls & Yeshivas does appear to be the same guy. Here’s his Facebook and in this thread I’ll highlight some interesting facts about James Polite. m.facebook.com/JamesPolite718
James Polite, arrested for anti-Semitic attacks, is also known to go by the name Abraham Aali. He posted regular support for Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrams, Alexandria Occasio Cortez and Ayanna Pressley. He hated Trump and was a fan of Obama. Don’t blame them but it’s noteworthy.
More notable stuff in his profile: Palestine Liberation Organization material, burning American flag and a post saying "Friends don’t let friends become Zionists."
His profile leaves the distinct impression he was mentally unwell, a far left activist, hated Trump + Jewish people so he saw a chance to try to hurt them both by carrying out anti-Semitic attacks and thought many would naturally try to blame Trump. NYPD was smarter though.
In summary that old @nytimes puff piece Ryan dug up on James Polite does appear to be the same person. Instead of the success story from those pages his life has turned a dark direction. Photos of him with his adoptive mother show up on both his Facebook and NYTimes article.
The most important thing I hope people get from this is that mentally unwell people exist on the entire political spectrum and mental health needs to be a priority. This is a sad story for so many reasons. Hopefully intervention comes soon enough to change this young man.
