A few days ago the NYT reported on a huge rise in antisemitic hate crimes in New York that has gone underreported because most of the perpetrators don't fit the narrative of these attacks coming from the far-right: nytimes.com/2018/10/31/nyr…
The latest example of this is the vandalism spree that included setting fires outside several shuls and antisemitic graffiti at a synagogue. The police have now arrested a suspect, 26 year old James Polite. nypost.com/2018/11/02/sus…
This suspect was apparently a city hall employee and a Dem activist who had previously been profiled by the NYT and worked for : dailycaller.com/2018/11/03/nyc…
Part of what bothered many of us about the reaction last week was how some people, who otherwise have shown no interest in the problem of rising antisemitism, used the attack in Pittsburgh as a way to go after political opponents. That diminished the problem.
People can see how few reporters are interested in finding out more about this story now. There are no discussions on the left's rhetoric or normalization of antisemitism like there would be if this guy was a Trump supporter. That double standard is real and it's harmful.
I mean you know it's an issue when even the NYT has to admit that the problem is seemingly being overlooked because it can't be blamed on the right:
Rising Antisemitism isn't a political hammer or a joke for many of us, it's a real issue that needs to be addressed. It' s a problem on both sides and holding those that are abetting the problem accountable should not be controversial or political.
More antisemitic vandalism in New York:
Seems like a good thread to add this Tablet editorial listing eight candidates in the upcoming election who have expressed blatantly anti-Semitic views, or who openly associate with anti-Semites. The list has 4 Dems and 4 Republicans.

Yes, these antisemitic attacks in NY are becoming a daily occurrence and no one seems interested in addressing them. As I understand it, local politicians are completely in denial.
