Interesting to scan traffic on "voter fraud" ahead of the midterms.

73k posts since yesterday, spikes last night and this morning (EST).

Allegations against both sides.

Democratic supporters focusing on Georgia and claims of voter suppression.

Republican supporters focusing mainly on a case in Texas. The case concerned down-ballot votes in the 2016 Democratic primary, per Breitbart.
A common trick around many elections is to repackage claims of fraud and bolster them with photo / video of other events and times.

One to be wary of tomorrow.

In fact, I was EU and NATO correspondent for @dpa_intl. That fact is discernible, because it's in my Atlantic Council bio.

Ha, looks like I really pissed off the Kremlin "information weapon" (to quote its own editor-in-chief).

They hate it when someone reveals how they work by citing actual evidence.
Looks like this is what triggered them. @thetimes on the role of Sputnik's parent company, which is to "secure the interests of the Russian Federation in the information sphere."

Sputnik claims that doesn't apply to them. Seriously.

@Twitter and @Facebook both just announced takedowns of a small number of inauthentic assets, possibly tied to state actors.

15 accounts so far, low follower numbers, engaged in coordinated platform manipulation.

And here's @fbnewsroom: six accounts, nine pages. Taken down for coordinated inauthentic behaviour, i.e. a network of counterfeit accounts.

Last night and this morning I saw a few nasty or sneering tweets about Bre Peyton, based on her being a conservative on Fox News. This morning, I saw a tweet about a racist woman who pulled an knife and hurled racial epithets at a black couple, talking about "Trump's America."
Here's the tweet about the racist woman. There's no reason to think this has anything to do with Trump. She didn't mention Trump and there have always been plenty of racists long before "Trump's America."

Yesterday July 22, 1999, marked exactly 19 years since Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Buhari resigned from office as Speaker of the House of Representatives & Member of the House of Representatives over allegations of certificate forgery all of which he admitted.
The allegations included falsifying his date of birth; forging his first degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria; forging a degree in Business Administration from the University of Toronto, Canada, and forging his NYSC Certificate.
His resignation read in part,
"I apologize to you. I apologize to the nation. I apologize to my family & friends for all the distress I have caused. I was misled in error by zeal to serve the nation. I hope the nation will forgive me & give me the opportunity to serve again.”
