Also MAJOR shout outs to @MsPackyetti who said “your whiteness won’t save you for what the patriarchy has in store for you”. I carry that with me as a reminder to stand up for members in my community who may not have access to whiteness & white spaces.

Some things I’m reflecting on as I make this journey (and forgive my sermonizing): every day people around the world leave their homes to come to the US for a shot at a better life, even though our country is unwelcoming. That’s courage & bravery.
Donald Trump and @GOP want to define my nonbinary, gender-nonconforming, and trans siblings in the LGBTQ+ community “out of existence”. Yet so many continue to live loud and boldly. That’s bravery, and I am in awe of them.

I can’t sleep & I’m thinking about how, around 6 months ago, I was taking another bus home to Durham during the AL special elections and ended up having a conversation with some guys on the bus about @DougJones & kitchen table politics.
NC is an incredible state with SO MANY opportunities for bipartisanship to benefit the state. But the Republican supermajority in our state leg. would rather continue tearing our state to shreds with divisive legislation & outrageous gerrymandering.
The current state senate majority leader actively leaves female senators out of legislative meetings because they “ask too many questions”. He’s also responsible for gerrymandering women in his OWN PARTY out of state seats.
We are still in VA. I’ve missed this state a lot since graduating from @HollinsU but also I would like my migrane to go away. Hydrate or Diedrate, folks
I MADE IT TO DURHAM!! My momma @KDCaulfeild came to pick me up from the bus. This woman is the reason I got into politics because I saw her working for change in Durham when I was a kid. Also, she somehow still looks AMAZING at 5am.
