1/So just crunched some data and found that Dems had their best performance ever w/18-29s, 18-44s and Asians Americans. 2nd best performance ever w/Hispanics. New coalition is alive and well. medium.com/@Simon_Rosenbe… A thread:
2/Democrats won the Hispanic vote 69–29, a 40 point spread, 2nd best showing since 2000. Turnout was high at 11% of total vote, up from 8% in last 3 midterms. 
3/18–29 year olds voted Democratic by 35 points, 67–32, the best showing ever for Dems. They were 13% of the electorate, the same share as the last two midterms, no small thing in a high turnout year.
4/Voters under 45 preferred Dems by whopping 25 points, 61–35. This is the biggest spread ever w/this demo, 2nd most was Obama’s 16 point spread in 2008. In 2016 was 14 points, and in 2014 just 5. So this is a huge and consequential shift. "Age gap" bigger now than gender gap.
5/Asian-Americans voted for the Democrats by an astonishing 54 points, 77-23, by far the biggest spread with this demo. In 2016 it was 36 points and in 2014 Rs won Asian voters by a point. So a remarkable shift.
6/Clear now the Dems "new coalition" is alive and well, perhaps better than its ever been. Why? Is it Trump? Did Dem Senate, House, Gov etc campaigns finally find a way to reach target and reach these voters? Some of both? Worth a discussion in the days ahead.
