/OK, since he brought it up, let's do a deep dive on why Trump should be fearful of being indicted for what was at the end of the day of a grand conspiracy to break American election laws and cheat his way into the Presidency. A thread.
/First, people go to jail for what he did, for years. washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/…
/Next, it wasn't just the illegal payments to a porn star and Playboy model. It was also the conspiracy with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton, and the aiding and abetting of the massive Russian operation on his behalf once it was underway. justsecurity.org/42387/collusio…
/It was also illegal coordination with the NRA, who we know also received a great deal of Russian money. bloomberg.com/news/articles/… People have gone to jail for this stuff too so no parking ticket analogies please. And this is just clear cut cheating btw. Cheating.
/And it appears these illegal coordination efforts are being used by Trump's ongoing re-election campaign! opensecrets.org/news/2018/12/t… Worked once, why not do it again!
/A reminder that some of the crimes he and his family committed in running their foundation were also campaign finance violations in the 2016 campaign. So more cheating. thedailybeast.com/trump-foundati…
/So it appears the President broke all sorts of laws to win in 2016. He cheated at a massive scale, and he is a crook. As @glennkirschner2 has argued, given the weight of all this DOJ has to indict him. Failure to do so encourages future cheating. nbcnews.com/think/opinion/…
/Finally, given the weight of all this, I agree w/Bob Bauer that Congress must begin "an inquiry." Law enforcement agencies in 4 different jurisdictions have provided evidence of Trump's lawbreaking in public filings. Congress cannot look the other way. justsecurity.org/62080/coming-t…
