Hey there, do a thing for me, okay? It's getting dark pretty early, and at least here in the PNW it's cold and damp. You don't have to have full-on SAD for that to lower your mood. So do one thing this afternoon to make your home somewhere you like being this weekend.
Get a warmer-colored LED bulb instead of those ugly fluorescent-ish LED ones that seem to be standard now. Get a scented candle you like and light it. Turn up the heat enough that you're comfortable. Pick up some clutter, right now, so you can look around and enjoy your space.
Bring a little bit of beauty or coziness into where you live. Because it's been a long, hard week... month... year... years... and it's okay to make your home a refuge for a few hours or a day. A refuge in time, as well as space. Give yourself a little space to rest and recharge.
Look at some pics of the beautiful festivals of light that happen around this time of year, too. Diwali's right now, and it's incredible. Hanukkah's coming up the first week of December. Pretty soon there are going to be gorgeous Christmas lights all over the place.
Get yourself some festive lights if you like them. It's okay. You don't have to celebrate a holiday to decorate for the solstice.
And above all, remember to take care of yourself. Take your meds, get some sleep, spend time with people and/or other creatures you love, read for pleasure, take a warm bath. Remember that in hard times, living rather than being reduced to just surviving is an act of defiance.
And have a weekend of rest and restoration. May you come back to the week refreshed and full of life.
