I think the #24hrstartup challenge is a great idea. Don’t know why people are getting their knickers in a twist.
We’ve had hackathons for ages. Nobody complained about those? It’s the same thing basically.
Except @thepatwalls has taken the hackathon concept, and turned it into a distributed, remote event that anyone in the world can watch. It’s super smart.
Pretty much all of the internet’s best ideas are when you take something that was previously accessible only to a few (e.g. watching people build apps) and turn it into something accessible to everyone.
Uber - private drivers for everyone. Airbnb - unique houses in any city for everyone. Snapchat - jealous of your dog for being a dog? Now you too can be a dog.
I’m not participating in the #24hrstartup challenge as I have my plans for the month and don’t want to disrupt them too much. But it sounds super fun and I’ll be checking in on the event as it goes.
There will come a day when a billion dollar company is created live, before everyone’s eyes at an event like this one.
