Interesting comments about Lilico's display of ignorance. But let's be clear, if there is a border there won't be a deal and if there is unrest you will find that all those investors might be super careful to put their money in UK. Unrest & violence is also difficult to contain.
So I do wonder whether those slipper heroes are still so ignorant if violence spreads in there backyard. And what happens if EU decides to put pressure on UK's potential FTA partners to not engage but otherwise face problems with future dealing with EU.
I'm also fairly certain that a recession and social unrest in UK is not particularly attractive for trade negotiations or investors, apart from the fact that UK's resources will be bound by just managing those issues.
What Lilico's ignorance also misses is that there is at least a significant minority (if not majority) not willing to carry those costs (their wealth, living standards or lives) to fulfil his dream. I do wonder how they react on people like him in case of recession or shortages.
What Lilico is basically doing is a blueprint of escalation which can come to very high cost. I don't mean just longer waiting times at NHS because of some cuts: Some people'd do well to occasionally study & research on disintegrating countries - can happen fast & b very ugly.
