Paradoxically, the people who have the results that so many desire don’t actually care much about it.

The fittest people love the pursuit of fitness, not fitness itself.

The smartest people love the pursuit of knowledge, not showing off.
The richest people love the pursuit of wealth, not wealth itself.

They love building businesses or studying investing or learning about early retirement strategies. They find a certain joy in the precursors to success.
Those who love the process, end up with the results naturally. Those who worship only the results, end up with nothing.

What is an Atomic Habit?

Atomic Habits launches in 3 weeks (!) and it's currently in some pretty good company on Amazon. (Shout out to @RayDalio.)

As we gear up for the launch, I want to explain why I chose the phrase "Atomic Habits" as the title for the book.

Here we go...
I chose the title Atomic Habits for three reasons.

The first one you might expect. The word "atomic" can mean tiny or small, like an atom. And it is a core part of my philosophy that habits should be small and easy to do.
The second reason: the word atomic can also mean "the fundamental unit in a larger system." Atoms form molecules, molecules form compounds, etc.

Habits are like the atoms of our lives. They are small routines—fundamental units—that combine into the overall system of our life.

This Day in Labor History: November 7, 1861. The Port Royal Experiment begins, an attempt to employ black agricultural workers outside slavery. Let's talk about the limits of abolitionists to re-imagine black labor and how ex-slaves had strong economic demands.
It’s a little hard to imagine the debates about black work in 1861. The idea that African-Americans were inherently lesser than whites was so ingrained, it was a real and open question in the North whether black people would work without white supervision.
In part, this is what the Port Royal Experiment was about. What would black people do on the cotton farms without their masters? Moreover, the North really needed the cotton.

 It's interesting how this read criticizes Trump's hard line against #Iran's regime & argues such US policy failed once before back in 1953 after a CIA-sponsored coup brought an end to Iran's sole democratic government under Mossadegh.

 The read goes to say the coup led to the return of the Shah & his authoritarian rule, the people becoming angry and 25 years later today's theocratic mullahs taking over 1979.
And the mullahs' enmity against America is obvious.

I feel this short thread is missing the point somewhat, and also engaging in some slight of hand with definitions.

The distinction is not between decentralised=good and centralised=bad.
The distinction is between which is actually useful and adding something.
Centralised systems, with memberships, barriers to entry and admins are inherently not censorship-resistant. Such ledgers add little to anything, I'd venture.

It sure is the reason I find them boring and not particularly innovative.

If you're documented and don't have any warrants, the time to think about whether and how you'd refuse to comply with such requests is now.
Even asking questions about whether you're required to comply will slow the process down and make others aware of their rights.
NYPD checkpoints appear at subway entrances occasionally, with cops searching bags. They're probably unconstitutional, but "voluntary," so unchallenged.
