- is letting Mattis visit troops on border without him

Pence & Nielsen, during lengthy reporter briefing, repeatedly emphasized that border situation amounts to an "urgent crisis." Perhaps the aim is to convince the public or pressure Dems back to the table; but also serves to create pretext for POTUS declaring a national emergency.
Asked about that, Pence said Trump has "made no decision on that" but also that he's "looking at it. The president is considering it."

Also: "We'd be willing to address this w emergency supplemental funding...we honestly believe we have a crisis at our southern border."

- "new border wall" in San Diego (built in 1990s, simply updated)
- furloughed federal workers want him to keep it up (polls show the opposite)
- Obama told him DACA "wasn't going to work" (he didn't)
Trump also claimed that McConnell wasn't at the Rose Garden presser "because he's running the Senate."

Except the Senate isn't in session.

And McConnell's spokesman told reporters he'd have stayed *if he'd known* about the presser.

Per source, Trump was “mostly aggravated with Schumer,” the fellow New Yorker, and his refusal to look at POTUS while directing his comments to the pool cameras. Aides, however, were more rattled that he’d just accepted responsibility for a possible shutdown.
Also, am told very little of substance took place after the pool cameras were finally ushered out. “Once the president has been aggravated to that level, there’s no coming back from that and re-focusing.“

A beautiful woman who has sacrificed so much for this nation.

And yet I struggle to see how Jack or Bobby Kennedy would embrace immigration policies that didn’t insist on both compassion for illegals with a firm commitment to sending people home who broke our laws to get here.
Still, I understand the outrage. #Trump is giving illegals two choices:

1) Give up asylum claim, get your kids back, be deported immediately.

2) Claim asylum, stay jailed for 1+ yr, won’t see your kids.

The stop gap solution of putting these families on military bases is an appropriate step, one that Obama took as well.

So let us provide food, shelter, and an expedited trip home.
