Ford's CEO just said on NPR that the future of profitability for the company is all the data from its 100 million vehicles (and the people in them) they'll be able to monetize. Capitalism & surveillance capitalism are becoming increasingly indistinguishable (and frightening).

Hey @Ford, you should note just how viral my previous tweet has gone. I don't have a huge following or anything. There's just a whole lotta drivers uncomfortable with this direction. They already paid for their cars with $$$, they don't also want to pay with their privacy.

Want to stop info of yours from going out over Facebook's API? Then you'll need disable "Platform". (Go to privacy settings, and press "edit" for "apps, websites and plugins"). Go ahead and do it. I mean, who uses FB apps anyway? This ain't 2009.
If for some reason you don't want to do that, at least edit "Apps Others Use" and uncheck all the categories of data there. (Note that data Facebook considers "public"--like name, gender, and friends list--will still be shared over API if you don't disable Platform.)
I will note with some pride that when Facebook tried in 2009 to take away the ability to opt out of Platform API sharing, we at @EFF called them out hard (along with the Europeans, natch), and FB ultimately restored it. So please: use it! eff.org/deeplinks/2009…

It & other tech co's gave $250K to Congress, then won contracts to privatize gov data storage.
They’re part of a new #CloudIndustrialComplex that lobbies legislators in Washington, DC to prioritize cloud storage for sensitive data, resulting in a huge migration of sensitive data to private cloud firms like Amazon, which get multi-million contracts to store the data.

1/ How to get promoted at a startup:

At larger companies career tracks are (too) well defined, and there are clear paths on how to move up. But at startups there isn’t a playbook for how to get promoted.
2/ By “promoted” I mean bigger title, more comp, more responsibility - whatever it is that you care about. You’re more likely to get it if you do these things.
3/ At a startup things move quickly, there often isn’t a defined HR - if there is the promotion norms change every 6 mo's as company vision, strategy, team, evolve. Despite ever evolving landscape, there are things you can do to get promoted early. This gets my attention:

1-The evening of the 22nd of June, Miss #SarahSanders (#WH press secretary) went for dinner with her family to this little place called ‘The Red Hen’. It seems that she was unceremoniously kicked out &harassed some more all the way across the street to the next restaurant
2-It seems somehow this incident has created some sort of mob-mentality wanting to harass Miss Sanders that has gotten to a point in which she now needs protection.

1/This is about the period before CA was officially hired by the Trump campaign. I believe CA was unofficially Team Trump from before he even announced his candidacy. When they aligned in June 2016, it was not an introduction, it was a reunion.

2/October 2015: the Trump campaign requested proposals from multiple vendors including nonpartisan political data firms L2 and rVotes.

They entered into an agreement w/ L2, which worked with Trump's team "to tailor data for the campaign’s use."
