(THREAD) This thread is about the allegations against Julie Swetnick. I say "against" her, because that is my main focus. The allegations that she lied in her own allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.
1/ I am more familiar with the details of the Christine Blasey Ford case, but I think I have something useful to add about the Julie Swetnick case too.

I will use these in this thread:

BK - Brett Kavanaugh
JS - Julie Swetnick
MJ - Mark Judge
2/ I'll start off by saying that I don't know whether JS told the truth or not. I do know that if somebody wants to convince people that JS lied, they should be able to make their case without deceiving. If they can't make their case without falsehoods, why not?
3/ If they state false things to discredit accusers, will they take responsibility and fix their falsehoods? Or will they leave falsehoods out as fact? Those tell me a lot about a person's credibility as they try to discredit another.
4/ I just went back and watched the the NBC interview with Kate Snow and JS, looked at JS's declaration, and went through some of the Senate Judiciary Committee Report from Senator Chuck Grassley.
5/ I'm not going to get into all the things in the JS section of the report, like a bar owner who said he never witnessed BK drink to excess (page 20), as if we are gullible enough to believe BK never did that.
6/ I am going to focus on one statement from Grassley's team that I believe is clearly false. I know that Grassley isn't a lawyer, but he went to college, so I assume he had to be able to handle basic test questions.
7/ I'm going to present this as a basic test question. Let's say that when Grassley was in college he had faced the following question on a test.
8/ Anybody think that student Grassley would have answered, "Yes" for that test question in college? Pretty sure I could have figured out that the correct answer is, "No" well before I got to college.
9/ So, why did Grassley put out an official report where it twice stated that JS's declaration says that she saw BK spike the punch? And why is Grassley using his own false statement to try to send JS to prison? Isn't the truth good enough?
10/ Here is a picture of page 3 of JS's declaration, with the underlined parts broken out in another image to make them easier to read.
11/ Here are the statements I'm referring to in the judiciary report.
12/ In the interview JS said she saw BK handing out the cups, but didn't see him spike the punch. I don't see how anybody can credibly claim that the declaration says she saw him spike the punch though.
13/ As far as the "line" part in her declaration, she changed to the following in the NBC interview:

"Not line, but definitely huddled by doors. And I didn't understand what it could possibly be."
14/ Earlier in the interview she had said, "Until what happened to me happened to me, I didn't put 2 and 2 together."
15/ So, "lined up" and "huddled" by doors are different, but people can decide how important that is. She stuck to believing that "trains" were going on behind those doors in the interview, but seemed less definitive than the declaration.
16/ I wouldn't really call the difference about what was going on behind those doors a retraction, but it was put differently by JS.
17/ I know a lot of BK fans won't care if CG's report is all true, but even in 2018 America I think truth should matter. So, will CG acknowledge the falsehood in his report? Or does the truth not really matter that much?
18/ Is there a message here to women that if you make allegations against somebody CG supports, he will use a false claim to try to smear you? Or am I supposed to think this was an honest misstatement by CG and his team?
19/ As I said, I don't know the truth about the allegations themselves. I would like it if we get more information, but also if people wouldn't spread falsehoods against accusers or the accused. Seems to be pretty common.
20/ JS said she reported her gang rape to the Montgomery County Police and provided a police officer's name. He did work there, but sometime in the last 30+ years he died.
21/ The Montgomery County Police told NBC it would take about a month to get the records. It has now been over a month, but I don't know if anybody has gotten those at this point.

"All four witnesses who are alleged to be at the event said it didn’t happen."
@MichaelAvenatti @MSNBC @ChuckGrassley @JeffFlake @SenatorCollins @ChrisCoons @amyklobuchar @CoryBooker @KamalaHarris @SenWhitehouse @katekelly @rpogrebin @Alyssa_Milano @RonanFarrow @maggieNYT @davidaxelrod @Comey @GloriaBorger @krassenstein 23/ I think it is sad how many people will do everything they can to be able to call the accusers liars, then turn around and give BK every benefit of the doubt. JS's declaration doesn't say she saw them spike the punch and BK's statement is not true.
If you like this thread, I have another one about the BK stuff. That one focuses more on the deceptions used against Christine Blasey Ford.
