My parents rented a house in the north woods so we could have a cozy Thanksgiving and spend most of it walking in the woods and possibly get shot by deer hunters.
So I took the dog for a walk and the place is a vacation town in the summer which means it's basically abandoned right now, which maybe makes me more likely to get shot by deer hunters, I dunno, I'm a city girl and get a full-body shudder at the thought of guns.
The house is across the street from the lake. We went that direction but it was super-windy and positively raw out so we went back into the woods behind the house. 
The pacing on this thread is going to be ...leisurely, btw, since the internet here is slow and it takes forever to upload pictures. Anyway, onward.
Tried to walk in the woods along the lake for a while, hoping they would block the wind.
Spoiler: they did not block the wind. So we went back into the woods behind the house.
I have no idea where the property line is, so we just wandered for a while. Came upon a trail.
Came upon this very squamous HP Lovecraft tree.
There's also a tree that is clearly very special to someone, but, like, I don't see any signs of other houses so I don't know who it belongs to.
There's a full-on formal garden here. I think I can get the latch open, although I am not really feeling like taking my gloves off, because it is FREEZING. But whatever, let's do this thing.

Very pretty gardens. Still nervous I am going to get shot by hunters, even though this is theoretically a residential area. I don't know how hunting works.

I am very disappointed I can't go inside. I dunno, I just really want to see and I tried to peer in the tiny stained glass window but it's up too high.
YOU GUYS THE CRAWLSPACE IS UNLOCKED. I wonder if you can get up into the church via the crawlspace. Dog doesn't think I should go exploring, because Dog is 16 and has no sense of adventure.
There's some light coming down in the corner, and I think I see a ladder? I dunno, my phone isn't that bright. But I think there's a ladder. I think I could get up into the church.
