Everyone has a different taste and tolerance for working, and it changes throughout life. If I love what I’m doing and am energized by it, 40 hrs/week only whets my appetite. I've also had long periods where 30 hrs/wk feels right. Neither is wrong, people. Just do you!
People who tell you how to count your working hours never ask about your circumstances or goals first. It's not a simple equation and there are many variables. And given that we're not all the same, I don't understand why we need to agree on a single number.
I took a shower and kept thinking about this:

The real issue isn't finding what X hours is for everyone (futile), but employers who force or pressure people to work beyond their comfort or ability. This is why work/life balance is the #1 most selected tag on @keyvaluesio.
The goal isn't to determine how many hours *other* people should work. Just focus on finding folks who accept and support you in your current chapter of life. If you're an employer, this means creating a workplace that accommodates the constantly changing needs of your employees.
