Cindy Hyde-Smith is projected to win 54% of the vote tonight to Mike Epsy's 46%.

But 10% of Mississippi's voters are disenfranchised due to having criminal records, 3 x the national average.

And 20% of African Americans in Mississippi have permanently lost the right to vote.
Put another way, 1 in 5 Black people in Mississippi cannot vote. That is the highest rate in the US.

40% of the Mississippi population is Black.

But Mississippi has not had an African American Senator since Reconstruction.

And they have NEVER ELECTED an African American to the US Senate.

Until about the 1920s, the Mississippi state legislature appointed its US Senators.
So, when Trump says of Mike Epsy, "How does he fit in w/ Mississippi? .. How does he fit in?" he knows full well he "fits in" w/ a state that is 40% Black, he just thinks the way he should "fit in" is not as a US senator, b/c everything is set up precisely so that doesn't happen.
