⚠The Spanish Constitutional court admits only 1% of the appeals against pre-trial detention.
⚠The SCC has admitted 100% of those appeals presented by Catalan political prisoners and has NOT resolved any of them.
⚠ The law sets a deadline of 30 days to the SCC to resolve the appeals
⚠The first appeal was submitted more than 365 days ago
The lack of response by SCC is a political discrimination by Spain’s top Court against Catalan politicians and social leaders.
The SCC is stopping their appeals because once rejected, Catalan political prisoners could appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
@jordialapreso & @jorditurull ask for nothing else than access to international justice.
Their hunger strike is indefinite and will continue till the Spanish Constitutional Court evaluates (and probably rejects) their appeals, and they can reach the ECHR.
Their bravery is an example for many. The Catalan non-violent fight for self-determination will not recede.
Injustice, arbitrary imprisonments and unfair trials are not acceptable in 21st Century Europe.
Time for all European democrats to speak up.
Jordi Turull has been 9 months in pre-trial prison.
Jordi Sánchez has been 400 days in pre-trial prison.
The Spanish General Prosecutor, nominated by @sanchezcastejon, demands 16-17 years in prison for them and accused them of rebellion and sedition.
