I mean, there’s a reason a bunch of towns across America are called Ivanhoe, and why there’s a statue of Scott (alongside Shakespeare and Robert Burns) in Central Park.
Scott’s novels were so popular in the US during the 19th century, esp the South, that Mark Twain blamed him for helping start the Civil War. That’s why the wrecked steamboat in Huck Finn is called the Walter Scott.
