There's loads of cheap tropes like this, chess aside. Baddies are ALWAYS describing obscure quasi-sophisticated practices. But why would you be impressed? Means you spent 8 mins on the Wiki page for Chinese tea etiquette, or listened to an episode of In Our Time about Samurai.
Also wonder why the goodies always let them monologue their little prepared speech
