This is Pratap who hails from a small village in Karnataka. He is just 22 years old. Last year, during the same period, he had received a gold medal in a science competition in Tokyo. His work is in 'Modular Wireless Sensor Network' for Multiple drones/drone networking. 
He was interested in becoming a scientist from a very young age, but didn't have the means to. Picking up materials from scrap, he tried to do small scale innovations. Getting inspired by an eagle, he thought of building his own drone for National Security and agri purposes.
As he didn't have money, his mother pledged her Mangala sutra, as she had confidence in her son that he would make it worth it, and his dream of doing something for the country.

problems hindered his confidence. Suttur Matha (JSS, Mysuru) and a few other persons helped in raising funds and sent him to Tokyo for the competition. As he was a small town boy, seeing the standards of his fellow competitors, his confidence dropped and wanted to give up.
But, remembering his mother's sacrifice and hopes on him, he went forward. He only wished he would get into the top 70 (of 130 countries), but he topped the competition. Today he is working in DRDO and gives guest lectures in IITs and global universities.
There are many more achievers similar to him, who have held our flags high, we need to identify them and encourage them. And if possible, encourage our children too, to do the same instead of only getting some engg seat and working a 9-5 job. No offense to the engineers out there

Okay... and to add another incident, once he had gone to France for some competition, and he had got late for his return flight, thus missed his flight, and the ticket for his immediate next flight was being charged around 4L, and couldn't pay that hefty amt. He went

to speak at the counter, but they were ignoring him. At the same time, they were displaying his achievement on TV at the airport. Getting frustrated, he told the person at the counter that the achiever being displayed on TV is him, and he won the prize. The person immediately

booked a business class seat free of charge and requested him to always fly @airfrance. Thank you too Air France for your timely support and compassion.
