Maria Butina allegedly set to plead guilty to conspiracy and cooperate with authorities.

Personally, I don’t see her cooperation being the crown jewel here...

Butina is looking at a short-ish jail term and then deportation to Russia.

She isn’t going to do anything that gets herself killed.

However, her boyfriend, Erickson, is now in a much tighter spot.

He’s a target facing a grim future. He’s got more incentive to talk.

Erickson reportedly used the NRA as a secret back channel to the Kremlin.

His testimony there could put the entire NRA in the soup - along with any lawmakers who benefited from the NRA’s illicit money or ties.

A lot of scared lawmakers, I betcha.

I think people are making too much of the Trump-on-Adderall thing and misattributing behaviors to an Rx that isn’t the likely culprit.

Along the reasons: Adderall is readil available in a quickly metabolizing form so there would be no real need to snort it.

People often crush meds to defeat time-release formulations.

If a pill’s compounds are made harder to breakdown, they take effect more gradually.

Crushing them defeats that onboarding speed limit and rushes and concentrate the effects.

Also, Trump seems genuinely ADHDish and the effects of Adderall on people appropriately prescribed for ADHD are vastly different than on people taking it inappropriately.

Adderall is often calming and focusing for people w ADHD. It’s primarily a stimulant for people w/o ADHD.

Federal prosecutors on Friday DROPPED five of seven charges pending against Paul Manafort, President Trump’s former campaign chairman, in a step toward a plea agreement expected to be finalized within hours.

Manafort is charged with one count of conspiracy and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice. The prosecutors dropped five other charges encompassing money laundering and violations of a lobbying disclosure law.

Do we need to talk about how "civil discussion" is itself a dogwhistle?

The idea that "discussion" questioning whether people who aren't white cis men have a right to work in games without threats and harassment, that there's any QUESTION there, is legitimate is already uncivil.
I mean, fine, let's talk about it.

The idea that we should have "civil discussion" with people advocating for the exclusion/persecution/death of others based on arbitrary characteristics like gender/race/sexual orientation/etc. is how the Overton window gets moved.
The idea that it's okay for white people to sit around over cocktails and idly debate whether people of color are fully human, or men to sip brandy and talk about whether women have souls, is itself violent.
