I mean, if Chuckles here wants to claim the Republicans now are the same as 1960, then surely he supports the policies in that year's Platform, like more unemployment insurance, increased pensions, raising the min wage, "equal pay for equal work regardless of sex"...
That platform also takes a section to endorse civil service reform and tighter conflict-of-interest laws, which Trump's Boy Charlie surely embraces in his veneration of all things 1960. I could go on, but someone would have to help Charlie with the big words.
Anyway, the platform is fairly liberal by Republican standards, though the usual caveats apply: rhetoric vs reality, etc. And they made a hard right turn in '64. It's actually pretty interesting to compare those 2 platforms. Here's 1960s, tho: presidency.ucsb.edu/documents/repu…
